YOUR CHILDREN
Protecting children as families change and assuring them of
the best possible physical and emotional development is a
heavy responsibility.. Children are special – and problems
relating to them need specialist care. We are able to provide
specialist advice for children and parents involved in emergency
protection and care proceedings. The Law Society has recognised
this expertise by the appointment of Paul Gammon to their
Children Panel. He is also a member of the Association of
Lawyers for Children
The main principle of the Children Act is that a child’s
welfare is paramount. During childhood decisions need to be
made and sometimes this leads to a dispute between those with
an interest in the child. This mainly covers disputes over
where children live or what contact they have with the absent
parent. We can advise and assist you with all such matters,
and if the problem can not be resolved by negotiation or mediation
we can act on your behalf in Children Act Court proceedings.
We run the same computer program as the Child Support Agency.
We can therefore advise a mother or father if the assessment
is correct, many are wrong!
EDUCATION
Planning ways to pay for schooling or university or ensuring
that any special educational needs are met require expert
advice.
are fully protected.
SECOND FAMILIES
Dealings with the Child Support Agency and arranging proper
access can be very complex. Good advice at an early stage
can reduce this.
PARENTS
As parents grow older, providing for their care can be very
onerous and emotionally wearying. Many families have difficulty
discussing matters like Wills, Powers of Attorney and Care
Home costs. Having an independent expert to talk things through,
as a family or on your own, can help greatly.
ADOPTION
We can advise you when the adoption of a child is appropriate
and deal with the formalities on your behalf.
